The Ethiopian Space Science Society held the annual Summer Space Training throughout the month of July, August and September.. The weeklong training included short introductory courses in Scientific Methods, Observational Astronomy, Satellite Technology, and Aerospace Engineering for high school students.
This year’s training was different as it focused more on practical and hands-on demonstrations in Observational Astronomy, Aerospace Engineering, and Satellite Data Received in collaboration with team Hanos Orbit, as part of the Global Satellite Tracking initiative by SGAC.
The training was conducted on
July 18 - 23 at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (1st round)
July 25 - 30 at Bahir Dar University, ESSS Bahir Dar Branch (with Washera Geo-space and Radar Science Research Laboratory)
August 1 - 6 at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology (2st round)
August 9 - 11 at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology for Interns and volunteers of ESSS
August 29 - September 2 at Jimma University, ESSS Jimma Branch
More than 500 students participated in the training both from Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, and Jimma city.
